OpenFOAM case study
Learn OpenFOAM through practical case studies
Each month I breakdown a simulation case using OpenFOAM as a visual guide for students and Engineers really wanting to level-up learning this tool for CFD simulation.
It’s the actual strategy / tactical moves you need to make to setup cases with confidence!
I really wish I had this sort of thing when I started out all those years ago…
This week we look at the “backward-facing step” - geometry where a channel suddenly expands causing the flow to separate, creating a recirculation zone and then re-attaching downstream.
It’s a classic benchmark test, we know it well and that makes it perfect for validating CFD tools (and testing your knowledge of how to use them!).
